Lucknow – Badar, the accused in the brutal murder of five women, was apprehended by the police at Krishna Nagar Metro Station on 24 January 2025. Upon his arrest, Badar attempted to pressurize the authorities by claiming that he had consumed rat poison mixed in carrot halwa, which led to his immediate hospitalization at Balrampur Hospital. After two days of medical observation, Badar was discharged.
On 27 January 2025, Badar was formally arrested and presented before the Honorable Court, which subsequently sent him to jail. A reward of ₹25,000 had been announced for information leading to his capture, and his photographs were widely circulated in the media as well as on public platforms such as bus terminals and railway stations.
Details of the Investigation: During the interrogation, significant revelations came to light. Badar confessed that he had conspired with his son to commit the murders in Ajmer. His statements closely matched what his son had previously mentioned during questioning. According to Badar, the two had planned the murders after a dispute with their neighbors. They convinced their entire family to participate, under the pretext that the deaths would implicate the neighbors, resolving the ongoing conflict.
The murder was carried out with alcohol purchased from a nearby liquor shop. After the incident, Badar’s son suggested that he commit suicide by jumping in front of a train, but Badar could not summon the courage to do so. He later considered suicide several times but failed each time. After the killings, Badar traveled to Kanpur to withdraw money, then met with a lawyer in Agra, but the lawyer refused to take up his case.
Badar’s Attempt to Escape Justice: In his efforts to avoid capture, Badar traveled extensively, visiting places like Rajasthan, Delhi, and others. He did not stay in one place for long and often traveled by bus at night, exploring cities during the day. Badar even tried to meet his family in Delhi but refrained from visiting their home due to fear of being caught. He spent nearly a week in Nepal before finally arriving in Lucknow.
Badar explained that, due to the reward announcement, people had started questioning him, and he felt increasingly suspicious and isolated. With no money left and mounting pressure, he decided to come to Lucknow, where he was eventually apprehended.
The police investigation continues as further details of the case are being examined. Badar’s son remains a significant person of interest in the case, and authorities are piecing together the full scope of the crime. The arrest of Badar has brought some closure to the case, although the authorities are committed to ensuring that all involved parties are brought to justice.
